BUCYRUS, OH – John H. Kime has been appointed to fill the vacant seat on the Bucyrus City Schools Board of Education. Kime’s appointment was approved during the regular board meeting March 16.
A 2009 Bucyrus graduate, Kime was approached by several people about serving on the board and he felt this was an opportunity for him to give back to his community.
“My journey following graduation from Tiffin University in 2012 has lead me back to Bucyrus,” said Kime. “I have been lucky enough to start a successful career at Ohio Mutual Insurance Group, lucky enough to buy a house, and one day start a family in Bucyrus.”
Following his graduation from Tiffin, Kime took a position as a Personal Lines Underwriter with Ohio Mutual Insurance Group in Bucyrus. He is a member of the Bucyrus Rotary Club, a former Relay for Life team captain and is a member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church.
“Without the education and experiences that I received from the Bucyrus City School District I would not be who I am today,” said Kime. “It will be an honor and privilege to help in whatever way possible to ensure that the Bucyrus City School District provides the same level of education and experiences for future students.”
Mr. Kime will fill the vacant board seat left by the resignation of Mr. Doug Schiefer through December 31, 2017. An election will be held in November 2017 to fill the unexpired term through December 31, 2019.
“We’re excited to welcome Mr. Kime to the Board of Education,” said Board President Brad Murtiff. “It’s wonderful to have an alumnus whose strong affinity for the Bucyrus City Schools draw him back in to service. Our students, staff and community will benefit greatly with Mr. Kime’s addition to the board.”
