Karen E. "Kay" Soo, 61, of Mansfield passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. Kay was born on December 25, 1955 in Mansfield, OH to Furman and Pauline (Messer) Summers.

 

 

 

Kay was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. She received her Associates degree in Business Management at North Central State College. She was the manager at the Shelby Bureau of Motor Vehicles for a total of 25 years between the two locations, Mansfield and Shelby. Caring, loving, compassionate, determined, brave, stubborn, strong-willed, lively and loyal are just a few words that could be used to describe Kay. In her spare time, she enjoyed online gaming. She loved spending time at home. She enjoyed her job and was very dedicated to it.

 

 

 

Kay leaves behind her husband of 17 years, Christopher Soo; two daughters, Holly Neider of Mansfield, Lori Soo of Phillipi, West Virginia; two grandsons, Christopher Cains, Jonathon Cains; one brother, John Summers of Mansfield; one sister, Marilyn and her husband, Bob Cruz of Florida; her father, Furman Summers of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews, her three cats, Silky, Spooky, Pi; and her dog, Flower.

 

 

 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Pauline (Messer) Summers.

 

 

 

A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Mansfield. Memorial contributions can be made in care of the family at the funeral home or Richland County Humane Society, 3025 Park Ave. West, Mansfield, OH 44906.
