Thelma V. Satterfield, 90, of Mansfield passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at OhioHealth Mansfield. Thelma was born September 22, 1926 in Rivesville, West Virginia to the late Henderson and Lily (Henderson) Nattress.

 

 

 

Thelma was formerly employed at Stewarts Root Beer Stand during the summers. Thelma was an active member of her church, Ridgeway First Church of God where she had been a member since 1956. She started the prayer chain for the church as a way to help members stay better connected with one another. Thelma was a sweet kind-hearted woman. She loved life and serving others as Jesus taught. She was devoted and gave unconditional love to her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

 

 

 

Thelma leaves behind seven grandchildren, Buffy (Tim) Richardson, Shannon Maurer, Michael Nelson, Jason (Kris) Nelson, Tracy Smith, Jon Nelson, Sayja Nelson; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Byron Nelson.

 

 

 

In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; two daughters, Linda Crabtree and Pamela Nelson; a granddaughter, Diane Thompson; and six siblings.

 

 

 

The family will receive friends from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Diamond Street of Wappner Funeral Director, 98 S. Main St., Mansfield, OH. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Friday, March 23, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor John Dodds at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Otyokwah Camp and Retreat Center, 3380 Tugend Road Butler, OH.
