At age 9 she was adopted by Maurice and Doris Horn of Bellville, Ohio, who remained her faithful and loving parents until their deaths.

Mary Lou graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in June of 1955, where she met her husband Myron Edward DeLaney on a blind date. They married on December 2 that year and recently celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary. Mary Lou lived in Ontario, Ohio most of her life, and attended the First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield.

Mary Lou was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her family is blessed with many heartfelt memories of sharing her wonderful life together. She loved bowling in a Thursday morning women’s league, coaching softball, attending basketball games to watch her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends, working crossword puzzles, and scratching lottery tickets. She spent many summers fishing with her husband at Lake Erie, traveling to New York City to visit with her daughter, and lunching with her girlfriends at Red Lobster. She was a devoted Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, where she never missed cheering them on. She loved to sing and play piano for others. She was dedicated to the Republican Party and enjoyed many years as an election poll worker. She worked over 10 years for Hallmark Cards at Lazarus and O’Neil’s. She also volunteered as an in-home hospice worker at MedCentral.

Mary Lou created a Christmas celebration for her brothers, sisters and their families, which grew into the Annual Roberts Reunion held every summer at the Bellville Fire Station.
