Eunice "Irene" Brooks, 83, of Ontario, passed away Sunday morning, May 14, 2017. She was born January 22, 1934, in Morehead, Kentucky, one of nine children of the late Arthur and Margaret Stacy Ramey.

Irene was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Crestline, Ohio, since 2010. She and her husband, Charles Brooks, who was the pastor there for 37 years in different area churches, were deeply involved in missionary work. She was the Missionary Director for Ohio and West Virginia for five years. Her life revolved around the principles of God first, followed by family and community. She took to heart the Golden Rule and lived by this each and every day of her life. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were blessed to be loved by Irene and they have many cherished memories of their time together. Her faith in the Lord was ever present and she set a wonderful example of a Godly woman.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Brooks; son, Ronald (Nancy) Herbrand of Arlington, TX; daughter, Debra Bever of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Christy Bever, Dustin Bever, Sarah (James) Craig and Ryan Herbrand; six great- grandchildren, Andrew, Isaac and Joshua Miller, Audrey Helms, Alania Craig and Jacob Herbrand; a brother, Dewey (Sandy) Ramey Jr. of Mansfield; a sister, Maxine Tabor of Mansfield; a brother-in-law, Gary Grant of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four sisters, Madeline (Walter) Griffits, Jeanine (Loy) Hogan, Sharon Grant and Donna Ramey; two brothers, Sidney and Roger Ramey; and a brother-in-law, Donald Tabor.

The family would like to thank Hospice of North Central Ohio for the exceptional care given to Irene and her family during her illness. It will never be forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A graveside service conducted by her brother-in-law, Rev. Gary Grant, will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Mansfield Memorial Park.
