MANSFIELD, OH - St. Peter's junior track star Alysse Wade is finally healthy for the first time in her high school career, after struggling through injury the last two seasons.

An arduous offseason spent with a personal trainer, working on flexibility and strength training, has allowed her to demonstrate a tremendous amount of skill as she has a perfect record thus far in the 100-meter hurdles, including a confidence-building gold medal performance against some of the best in the state at last weekend's Mehock Relays.

Aside from simply being healthy, the Mansfield Senior transfer also credits her spectacular season to hurdling coach Bruce Woodson, her former Tygers coach, who's been working with Alysse since she was in grade school in AAU competition, along with indoor track season, where Wade has won back-to-back state titles in the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles, an event coach Bruce says she picked up almost instantly just a few years ago as an eighth grader.

So much so, in fact, that Spartans head coach Dan Schlitt considers Wade the best talent he's seen in his six years with the program, with big expectations for what the end of the season may hold.

St. Peter's will compete at the Division III level at state, but Wade will continue to challenge herself against mostly Division 1 competition throughout the season, including this weekend at the Amhurst Relays, where she fully expects to end up on top of the podium.
