LEXINGTON, 0H - The Colonel Crawford Eagles are headed back to the D3 Lexington District Final as they defeated #5-seeded Edison 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon.

Edison jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead two batters into the game, but it would be all they could get across the plate as Sydney Studer calmed down after a mound meeting with head coach Chuck Huggins allowing only four hits the rest of the way while striking out 13 batters.

The #1-seeded Eagles bats were alive in this one after being shut out in last year's District Final against Edison as they scored once in the first and then took the lead in the third when Caitlin Koschinick cleared the bases with a single to the right field fence.

They added another run in the fourth on an Alexis Burkhart sacrifice fly making it 5-2.

Edison had one final chance to tie things in the seventh with two on and two out, but Studer got the final batter to pop out to first to advance the Eagles to their second-straight District Final appearance.

"In our program, we talk about that when it's your turn to shine, shine," said Huggins. "and they certainly did."

Colonel Crawford will face Wednesday's Semifinal winner between #3 seed Galion and #6 seed Willard on Friday in Lexington at 5:00 p.m.
